WOW—What an incredible conversation!
November 12th Hosted by Center for Modern Aging Princeton Center & Nonprofit Connect, NJHA Conference And Event Center
As Board Chair for the #UnitedMethodistCommunitiesFoundation, I attended this event eager to hear from Joan Garry, a true force in nonprofit leadership, advising, and coaching. I expected insight—but I didn’t anticipate just how deeply her words would resonate with me.
Her talk was so impactful that I immediately grabbed a copy of her book for her to sign. I’ve only just begun reading, and already this quote stands out:
“Why Nonprofit Boards Really Matter: A nonprofit board partners with the staff to set a vision for the organization and to ensure that every donor can be very, very proud of the contribution they’ve made to support the work. A nonprofit board does not follow; it leads!”
This resonates deeply with our mission at the #UMCFoundation—to ensure that every gift entrusted to us truly enhances the lives of older adults and supports the compassionate care they deserve. I’m excited to dive deeper and learn how to become an even stronger Board Chair.
A heartfelt thank you to Drew Dyson, Center for Modern Aging Princeton, Nonprofit Connect and Allison Howe for hosting such a meaningful event for all of us who serve in the nonprofit world.
