During National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the FBI joins in asking every user of a connected device to Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT.  Diamond Business Communication supports this cause and has posted 31 Days of Cybersecurity Tips.

Tip #31 Delete old accounts that you no longer use  With hacking gaining attention, deleting online accounts is one of the best ways to protect your data security and privacy. Massive hacks like that of MySpace in 2013, Home Depot 2014, and most recently Facebook, have provided cybercriminals with passwords, email addresses, and usernames. And don’t get us started on using the same email and password for every online account. The less data you have stored on corporate databases scattered across the internet, the safer you are from the misuse of personal information. Consider a Dark Web Scan on your email addresses to see if you have old credentials sitting on the Dark Web waiting to be sold. A good start to find old accounts no longer in use out there in cyber land!
